That is the beauty of any great roguelike, the push-your-luck choices you constantly have to make. Or minimize harm to yourself a go straight to the boss room. You're free to explore them all to max out your loot and find better equipment. Every time you play you're dropped in maze of randomly laid out rooms. At its core A Wizard's Lizards is a top-down dungeon brawler. Clever title aside I have to say this is a really fun game with a couple really clever concepts. A couple games have stuck out and one of them is A Wizard's Lizard. After the near perfection of Spelunky I had a hard time finding a game that really satisfy my desire for the genre. Just don't expect to find Binding of Isaac 2, because you're going to be sorely disappointed. All in all, most of these problems and bugs can eventually be fixed by the devs, and the game, in short doses and at a reasonable price (putting an absurd price and then making a huge discount at launch is an old trick, and it doesn't work anymore) can be enjoyable. (Playing on a i7 with a GTX680 GPU, so I doubt the problem is on my side.) To make things even worse, the hitboxes of the character, the enemies and the missiles are totally off, although in some cases things go more or less OK, in many encounters you will see a sword going right throught you and making no damage, or hitting a wall and actually damaging you. The bad optimization, with random stutter without any apparent reason doesn't help, same with the random crashes I'm getting every 30 minutes of gameplay. The gameplay is spiced with some annoying puzzles and some kind of "second chance" in the form of a ghost form when you die, but the whole time you will getting a "cheap" feeling, like playing a phone or browser flash game. Unfortunately, the positive things about this game end there. Also, the graphics and sound are well acomplished, if -once again- a shameless copy of BoI. The best thing this game does is shamelessly plagiarize Binding of Isaac's gameplay with some Rogue Legacy elements. I mean, what could go wrong? Real time roguelike with upgrades, yay.
